For me, this one starts off with using fashion as a spectacle - to captivate the audience with beauty - the detail, the line, the texture the movement..... but then it moves very much into narrative.
What is really interesting is how the women are portrayed as sort of mannequin like creatures, perfectly polished, postured and still. This taps into ideologies about the perfect woman, guides to fashion and consumption.
Also, there are two female characters - the feminine and the gamine look. These are clearly classic hollywood inspired. And interestingly they begin to interact with each other, inciting ideas about sexuality and what is feminine, the masculine feminine etc.
I think this is a really good one for exemplifying explicit referencing to classic Hollywood stars, in order for audiences to identify with a persona. However in a much more contemporary way, without script, it starts discussions around what these clothes represent in terms of sexuality and gender, and therefore will impact the consumer in their unconscious judgements.
